Trusted, Agency-Approved Protection
Barricade II isn't a homeowner-only product dressed up for retail — it's approved by the U.S. Forest Service for both ground and aerial application, meaning it's built and tested to the same standard used in actual wildland firefighting operations, including drops from aircraft. That's a materially higher bar than most consumer-grade fire products clear, and it's why agencies and serious wildfire-defense professionals treat gel-based protection as a legitimate tool, not a gimmick. When you're deciding whether to trust a product to protect a home you can't rebuild, that's the kind of approval worth knowing about.
How It Protects Your Home
Barricade II is a liquid concentrate built around super-absorbent polymers. On contact with water, those polymers swell to many times their original size, locking the water into a dense, clinging gel rather than letting it run off or evaporate quickly the way a plain water-soaked surface would. Applied to a structure ahead of an approaching fire, that gel layer:
- Insulates the surface from radiant heat and direct flame contact
- Clings to vertical and overhead surfaces (walls, eaves, window glass) instead of sheeting off
- Remains effective for multiple hours — re-misting with water extends protection further
- Rinses away cleanly with plain water once the danger has passed, with no lasting residue or damage
What's Included
- Barricade II Fire Blocking Gel — 4 gallons, packaged as four individual 1-gallon containers
- Scotty Firefighter direct-mount applicator/eductor — threads directly onto each 1-gallon Barricade container as it's used
- 1.5″ fire hose (NH) thread connection — connects straight to your pump's discharge line, not a garden-hose fitting
- Built-in fixed-ratio eduction — mixes gel concentrate with your pump's water output automatically while spraying, no manual measuring required
Product Details
- U.S. Forest Service approved for both ground and aerial application
- Free of NPEs, petroleum distillates, phosphates, and sodium ferrocyanide
- Non-toxic; rinses off with plain water once the fire danger has passed
- Suitable for wood, glass, stucco, metal, and most landscaping — always spot-check before broad application to sensitive plantings
How It's Applied
- Thread the Scotty applicator onto a 1-gallon Barricade container
- Connect the applicator's 1.5″ fire hose fitting to your pump's discharge line
- As pump water flows through the applicator, the built-in eductor automatically draws gel concentrate from the container and mixes it at a fixed ratio — no separate mixing step
- Spray onto eaves, siding, windows, decking, propane tanks, and surrounding vegetation — can be applied up to 24 hours ahead of an approaching wildfire
Note: confirm the exact fixed mix ratio for this specific applicator before publishing. Barricade's technical bulletin allows a 1–5% mix range depending on application; this hardware fixes the ratio at one point within that range.
Storage: Keep between 35°F–120°F, protect from freezing, and shake well every 6 months before use.
Coverage
- Approximately 500–700 sq ft per gallon
- Full 4-gallon case: approximately 2,000–2,800 sq ft of coverage — enough for most home exteriors plus a meaningful buffer of surrounding vegetation
Connects to Your Pump — Not a Garden Hose Kit
This is the key difference from most homeowner gel kits: the applicator's 1.5″ NH fire hose thread ties directly into the same pump and hose equipment you're already using for structure protection, so gel application doesn't require separate low-pressure garden hose setup — it's part of the same deployment.
Policies: Gel is non-returnable once purchased (per supplier policy — confirm your own return language before publishing).
